The XR HUB Nuremberg informs companies, pupils and students as well as interested parties about current trends, use cases and innovations and facilitates access to technologies from the field of Extended Reality (XR). It creates connections to other fields of technology and thus enables synergy effects.
XR stands for ‘Extended Reality’ and encompasses all technologies that combine real and virtual worlds. These include

- VR (Virtual Reality): A completely computer-generated environment that you can immerse yourself in using VR Headsets
- AR (augmented reality): The extension of the real world with digital elements that become visible through devices such as smartphones or special Headsets.
- MR (Mixed reality): A combination of VR and AR in which virtual objects are integrated into the real world and can interact with it.
The XR HUB Bavaria is an initiative to strengthen Bavaria as a media and business location and is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs. The project has three locations. All three locations deal with issues relating to XR technologies and their numerous applications.
